Critiques CD: Scuba | Triangulation

Triangulation locates itself between and beyond dubstep and techno, dancing deliciously between 4/4 and skittering beats. Anchored by ultra wide bass that’s as tribal as it is jungle, tracks like “Minerals” and “On Deck” reference the deepest, darkest house as much as they do dubstep. Using and abusing conventions, Scuba slaps dancefloor clichés upside the head and works them with criminal conviction. All without giving up an iota of growling, prowling industrial strength or betraying dubstep. Scuba doesn’t disappoint on his 2nd LP, even as he strays far from his roots to create this massive and innovative missive. Calling all dubstep divas to the dancefloor!
