Mad Decent Secret Party: keeping us on the edge of our seats!

Montrealers are about to live out one of the wildest musical happenings of the year this coming weekend with the Osheaga and MEG festivals, which will offer over 75 popular music acts. For those music aficionados that will still have stamina left at the end of the weekend, a ‘secret party’ is planned on Sunday night. Hosted by local nightlife fixture DL Jones, the Mad Decent Secret Party is to be held at the Velvet SpeakEasy.

Due to the surreptitious nature of the event, only 1 performer has been announced: local producer Zubi, who will deliver house-injected funk to eager clubgoers. Besides him, another artist is set to perform, but his name has been kept under wraps so far. Since it is a Mad Decent party, we can only assume it is one of the 27 musicians represented by the label. Founded by producer Diplo in 2006, this veritable music factory has played a key role in the rapidly increasing popularity of the baile funk and contemporary hip hop scenes, counting artists such as Bonde Do Rolê and Major Lazer amongst its crew. Speaking of which, the Lazers will be at Osheaga this weekend… coincidence?
