Critiques CD: Indian Jewelry | Totaled

Indian Jewelry’s music is dirty and fuzzy, offering up a sort of greyish psychedelia dosed up on ennui and lethargic self-pity. The Texan outfit sounds a bit like a hippy Throbbing Gristle. Or perhaps The Liars having a mellow day listening to Suicide. Gloomy vocals, distorted but minimal rock guitar, production that’s like walking through a thick fog, all add up to a sound that’s very reminiscent of how punk, experimental and early industrial music from the ‘80s all frayed the same, unclear line to the breaking point. Or they sound like The Liars. Which isn’t bad, it’s just that beaten paths aren’t dark, untamed wildernesses.
