Critiques CD: Bernardino Femminielli | Femminielli/Araignée

This Montreal mack daddy might just go down in history for his cosmically seductive aural quickies. This 7 inch reveals two of his musical ventures (Femminielli and Araignée – the latter of which is a side project with his producer Dominic Vanchesteing) care of three stunningly sedate 5-minute tracks. “Silvia” and “Chauffeur” evoke both the looming threat of an idyllic ‘80s existence gone awry (Blue Velvet comes to mind) and the sleazy, clandestine passion that comes with drowsy synths, whispered Spanish vocals and a crawling, motel-ready drum beat. Sublime! Or in the immortally naughty words of Dennis Hopper, “Don’t toast to my health, toast to my fuck!”
