There is a dearth of decent bars to frequent in downtown department-store-land. Phillips Lounge, off the square in front of The Bay, promises to be a welcome resto-bar addition to an otherwise depressing landscape peppered with VLT-style old man bars, where one would be brave to let food pass their lips. The Lounge is certainly a bougie-fied step up from those aforementioned watering holes, what with its trendy red leather banquettes, extravagant lighting fixtures and re-finished original ceiling mouldings. Phillips Lounge's drinks are fairly reasonably priced, particularly its bottles, which sell for «cheap» ($120). This is also one of the few places in the city that serves good Mojitos, which is very exciting. There is a coat-check in the basement, so it's probably safe to assume that they'll be throwing parties in the future, but in the meantime, it's a nice spot to unwind with eats and drinks after you've OD'ed on the perfume across the street.
