Critiques CD: Lindstrøm | Six Cups of Rebel

Lindstrøm’s latest album is unexpectedly full of swinging techno that percolates with fun. Lindstrøm uses orchestration, tribal, jazz, rock and pop overtones in a sophisticated and knowledgeable way — including some wonderful experiments in prog that, well, actually pops and rocks. Lindstrøm’s ability to mix influences and densely pack his tracks with syncopation, while still sounding clean, clear and direct, means this is no muddy pastiche. Six Cups of Rebel’s beautifully clever breaks and beats are experimental but damn listenable. This album’s so good it makes my heart go bippity bop pop pop and the ass followed. “De Javu”, particularly, is dancefloor heaven.
