Over the years, we’ve grown attuned to the boys’ cultural savvy, as they relish the opportunity to tap into their many interests in the recording studio. On Begone Dull Care, it was the work of pioneering NFB animator Norman McLaren that provided their raw material. This time around, inspirations run the gamut from billionaire aviator Howard Hughes, to the city of Shanghai, to Mister Citizen Kane himself and Banana Ripple ice cream, in no particular order. It all amounts to 9 tracks of deliciously ripe electropop.
