Critiques CD: Arctic Monkeys | Suck it and See

Since 2006’s dynamic Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not launched Brit indie rockers Arctic Monkeys on a trajectory to popularity and critical acclaim, the group has fluctuated between their heavier guitar-driven rock sound and their sweeter, early-Beatles pop side. Suck it and See, their follow up to 2009’s Humbug, is a balanced offering of these two facets of Alex Turner and co.’s success, both valuable in their own respects. From the sweet yet clever love song “She’s Thunderstorms” to heavier, more ambivalent “Brick by Brick,” the album’s confident twelve tracks fit together naturally, as should be expected of the established indie rockers.
