Vie de quartier: smells like teen slush at L2 Lounge
One of the first things you’ll notice at Chinatown’s L2 Lounge is barista powerhouse Leo, who works the blenders as if his life depended on it. But this Plateau-bred dreamboat isn’t whipping up soy lattes or protein shakes – he’s handling your fix of milk slushes, avocado smoothies and a selection of bubble teas that would give Chinese superstar Wei Wei very wet dreams.
Leo, a regular customer at L2 back in his CEGEP days, is now one of the joint’s friendly faces, where he’s privy to all those highly coveted Bubble Tea secrets.
As the perky Kim waits the tables – populated by teens fresh out of class – the young patrons in question revel in chess, card games and Mega Touch Force 2007 on the video terminals. Others simply scope out the scene, perhaps on the prowl for their inaugural fall fling while savouring Leo’s tasty concoctions. Just remember, fellas: girls may come, girls may go, but black milk shaken teas are forever. Cheers to that.
