Fashion POP : Passion for fashion

While the POP Montreal Festival is renowned for its finely tuned sonic palate, it also serves as a runway for the stylings of local designers. Fashion POP: The Annual Puces POP Fashion Show and Emerging Designers Award is a competition in which six up-and-coming Montreal couturiers each put together a streamlined six-look collection and present their work to a panel of industry professionals. Though the list of judges is under wraps until the day of the show, this year’s bounty is a spread in Worn Fashion Journal and a cash prize from Le Château. Now in its fourth year, the competition has come to attract audiences from all areas of the arts, plus accolades from Flare Magazine, Midnight Poutine and The New York Times.

Since its inception, the Emerging Designers Award has been bestowed upon a range of visionary artists, from Anomal Couture’s epic smoldering ensembles, to the contemporary elegance of Norwegian Wood, to Dane Richards and his aquatic-fauna-inspired garments of furs, fibers and fringe. Reveling in its mission to promote fresh artists to a wider audience, the Fashion POP show will kick off the festival on September 29.
