Critiques CD: The Black Keys | Brothers

The Akron, Ohio blues-rock duo of Dan Auerbach & Patrick Carney return from a bevy of solo (Auerbach) and side projects (Blakroc and Drummer) with their fourth and clearly their strongest album to date; their first since 2008’s  Attack & Release. Returning to what made the Keys the Keys, Brothers amounts to over 50 ambling minutes of grooving blues-rock, ballads and foot-tappers, joining the forces of the southern bayou, psychedelic 70s, soul and Motown to make some of today’s dirtiest yet sharpest garage-rock. A scorcher made just for heavy summer rotation. Brothers also sports one of the most obvious covers ever.
